Sounds of Mistery

“Sounds of Mistery” is a one-act performance centered around the topics of mysticism, meditation, and introspection, combining music by Hildegard von Bingen and Biber with commissioned compositions and painted scenography. We want to evoke the ritual of meditation practiced during the so-called “Rosary processions”, where followers walked around different images representing the 15 Mysteries of the Rosary. Sara Cubarsi, influenced by the religious scenography will create three wax paintings as part of her series Exvoto to accompany the Rosary Sonatas. The “live” paintings, with a wax layer that melts, placed at different places of the room will reflect the fragility, belief, and change, creating a nowadays procession. The guiding thread of this performance are the hypnotic 12th century chants “Canticles of ecstasy”, that in combination with the compositions by Cubarsi and Mazyar will bring two apparent different worlds together in the search of spirituality and introspection.
